~ We LOVE you Kailea ~

Sunday, January 17th @ 3:30pm

Aloha friends… I am writing you from a bittersweet place. I recently took Kailea to the vet because I had noticed some blood that had been coming out of her mouth. The vet found a mass that had grown inside her mouth and jaw that was bleeding. He did an operation that day to remove the mass. He said that it looked like the growth/infection has also gone down into her jawbone and that he was not able to remove all of it. The biopsy results showed that it was cancerous/malignant and it could likely come back in a fairly short amount of time. He basically told me that it is quite possible that Kailea does not have that much more time left in this realm of life.

I am writing you because I feel you are someone who has loved Kailea and been a beautiful part of her life. I would love to have a celebration of life for Kailea while she is still feeling good and can see some of her friends (you), before she transitions on over to the other side (whenever that may be). This has been a bit of a heart breaking week for me… as she has been my best little buddy/friend/companion for almost 13 years… definitely a soul mate.

I also understand this is part of the beauty and magic of these relationships with our 4 legged friends. Their time is most often shorter than ours here on this amazing planet, so it is a great opportunity for us to remember to cherish every moment we have with them. With that said, I would be honored to have you come join us to celebrate Kailea for the sweet and beautiful soul she is… for the love she has brought to this world… and for the friendship/kinship she has shared with us.

We will be gathering down at the end of Sunset Cliffs (a place she loves and has spent a lot of time) on Sunday, January 17th @ 3:30pm. From 3:304:00ish we will be hanging out by the benches on the cliff above Rope Beach… this will give us time to hang out, find one another, give Kailea some love and pets, sip some tea (if you bring tea), maybe play some music (feel free to bring instruments). Then around 4:00 or 4:15 ish we will start walking/hiking down the trail towards the end of the cliffs for sunset. Depending on how high/low the tide is, we may even go down to the beach at the end of the cliffs (way down at the end, south past Rope Beach). If you arrive at the bench area after 4ish and don’t see us, just start walking south on the trails and try to find us at the end of the cliffs! Bring layers (blankets) with you, depending on the weather that day… it can get chilly towards sunset.

Location/Directions/Parking

The place we are meeting (from 3:30-4:00ish) is past the end of the road for Sunset Cliffs, up on top of the cliffs above Rope Beach by the 2 benches (the red X in the image below). This pin should take you close (https://goo.gl/maps/yUQXhJ5CSoNEGKuX8). You can park on either Sunset Cliffs Blvd, Ladera St, or in the parking lot for the Sunset Cliffs Nature Park. If parking on the street, walk south past the stairs at the end of Sunset Cliffs Blvd (on corner with Ladera)… follow the little dirt path alongside the edge of the cliffs… there will be a house on your left (the only house on the cliffs)… follow the trail past the little chain fence (sign says something like ‘warning unstable cliffs’)… you will go down a little bit and see the 2 benches (on top of the cliff). If you park in the parking lot… just walk straight down towards the cliffs/ocean and take the trail just a little bit to the right (towards the house) and you will see the benches. If you are having a hard time finding us give me a call (619-517-4469).
